ALTERED IMAGES ANNOUNCES MAJOR PRODUCTION PROJECT FOR NBC UNIVERSAL GLOBAL NETWORKS Januray 2009
| |
London, 26 January 2009 - Altered Images, a leading reseller of technology for the television production and corporate communications industries, has today announced the completion of a major project for NBC Universal Global Networks. Altered Images supplied and installed an end-to-end workflow that significantly improves project and production management, providing NBC producers with a flexible platform for creating promos and campaigns for four of the media giant’s UK channels – SCI FI, Hallmark Channel, Movies 24 and Diva TV. The fully integrated production platform includes four Avid Media Composer systems comprising two MC Nitris DX and 2 MC Mojo DX with a 32TB Unity, Avid Interplay, Anystream Encoding and a Mac graphics suite. The system was installed as part of the facility’s move to new premises in Central London. The four UK channels have promos created using this new multi-resolution environment. The Interplay and Unity systems form the heart of the new facility delivering shared storage and workflow efficiencies. Following ingest on Digi Beta or HD Cam, material is stored on the Unity. Material is digitized into the Interplay, so that producers and editors can view it, log clips on the desktop, generate clip lists, create promos, add the affects, lay down the audio and send back out via tape or file. Paul Rushforth, Facilities Manager, NBC Universal Global Networks explains, “We selected Altered Images for this project following a tight tender process. The team delivered at every stage and the result is a sophisticated and flexible system that significantly reduces production time and costs and enhances creativity. The whole system was designed, installed and ready for use in less than three months and the relationship between our two companies has been a highly successful experience.” Paul Saint, Business Development Manager, Altered Images comments, “We are delighted to announce this installation at NBC Universal Global Networks. This new platform has doubled the facility’s capacity from three to six production suites, provided a sophisticated multi-resolution production environment, improved efficiency and ROI.”
