Altered Images Midlands, has transformed the media facilities at the University of Wolverhampton’s School of Humanities & Social Sciences, in a major supply and installation contract. The brief involved upgrading and networking the department’s video editing resources, and creating new TV and radio studios.

Wolverhampton University’s Louise Ranford is very pleased with the new facilities, and Altered Images’ input. Louise says: “The new equipment is working well and proving extremely reliable. We are most impressed with the flexibility of the system as we are able to use it for both video and audio/radio projects and we are able to store all of this work centrally.

“Altered Images carried out an excellent installation, which they have followed up with telephone support and regular visits. In short, they are only ever a phone call away. Altered Images has always had a healthy relationship with Wolverhampton University, and this new installation has further strengthened it.”

The Avid Xpress Studio Complete system was pre-configured, tested, and installed at Positive Image by Avid Authorized Reseller Altered Images in January 2005, and the system made its presence felt immediately. “We noticed a big difference right away in the speed and performance of the system,”

Bristol-based post house Films at 59 have recently completed post production on the new series of Big Cat Week for the BBC Natural History unit. To enable the production team to manage their media, Films at 59 supplied and supported an Avid LanShare EX system, purchased through the Midlands office of broadcast systems reseller Altered Images.

George Panayatiou says: “Everyone involved was extremely pleased with the LanShare’s operation both in Africa and here, and with the efficiency of workflow that a shared storage solution has brought to this most exciting and unique production.”

Altered Images, was selected to supply and install Avid editing equipment at Long Way Round, the production company specially formed to produce the series of TV programmes about Ewan McGregor and Charley Boorman’s adventures on their trans-continental motorcycle journeys, screened on Sky One

Altered Images supplied and installed an Avid Unity LANShare system and two Avid Xpress Pro Editing systems. Long Way Round’s Jake Roberts is enthusiastic: “The new facility works very well. It was quick and did everything we needed it to do, with very little fuss. I’ve never used a Unity system before, but once Altered Images had set it up it was no more difficult than a normal Avid system.
